Research on HarmineEffects of the Natural β-Carboline Alkaloid Harmine, a Main Constituent of Ayahuasca, in Memory and in the Hippocampus: A Systematic Literature Review of Preclinical Studies https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27918874/ Harmine is a natural β-carboline alkaloid found in several botanical species, such as the Banisteriopsis caapi vine used in the preparation of the hallucinogenic beverage ayahuasca and the seeds of Syrian rue (Peganum harmala). Preclinical studies suggest that harmine may have neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing effects, and retrospective/observational investigations of the mental health of long-term ayahuasca users suggest that prolonged use of this harmine-rich hallucinogen is associated with better neuropsychological functioning. β-carboline alkaloid harmine induces DNA damage and triggers apoptosis by a mitochondrial pathway: study in silico, in vitro and in vivo https://www.spandidos-publications.com/10.3892/ijfn.2020.1 Mechanistically, our findings indicate a putative antitumor effect of harmine, which associates DNA damage, DNA repair repression, cell cycle arrest and triggering apoptosis through mitochondrial pathway. The results suggest that harmine, present in the pulp and seed of the passion fruit, could be used in future as a promising coadjutant anticancer agent and we suggest to address this fruit as a functional food.

How does Ayahuasca work?Indigenous healers have been microdosing aya for at least hundreds of years. There are 2 plants that make up the psychedelic brew known as Ayahuasca. One is the Chakruna leaf which contains the psychedelic compound DMT. The other is banisteriopsis caapi also known as Ayahuasca vine. Caapi vine does not have psychedelic compounds, but it does contain harmala alkaloids including Harmine, Harmaline and Tetrahydroharmine. These compounds are MAOI inhibitors like those contained in pharmaceutical antidepressant drugs. The natural MAOIs contained in Ayahuasca vine do not have the additives or side effects of pharmaceutical antidepressants. Scientific studies are proving what Indigenous healers have known for thousands of years. Ayahuasca vine is a natural and powerful healer of depression and anxiety among other dis-ease.

Why do people microdose Ayahuasca?People want to bring the healing and insights into their daily lives. Microdosing offers you the ability to work with a plant medicine while being able to stay present in your normal daily life. Some fear or are not ready to experience the psychedelic “heroes trip” offered in the Peruvian Jungle. Microdosing aya provides the same medicinal properties without the psychedelic trip. How about integrating a big journey into your daily life can be overwhelming, whereas micro dosing gives you the opportunity to integrate as you’re going through your process right you’re starting to see those small moments where where you can make shifts or you start making connections as you’re in life because if you’re out in the jungle for 30 days, you have this idea but then you come back to your every day experience and that idea no longer applies because you’re in a very different space. People wanting to blow up their lives after their big ayahuasca journeys.

If this tincture isn’t psychedelic, will it still help me?Shamans and healers have believed for hundreds of years that micro-dosing B. caapi heals the mind, body and spirit (energetic body). They teach that it can be purifying, healing and rebalancing. Ayahuasca is regarded as one of the most sacred healing plants on the planet. Check out our research section to learn about how modern science is proving what Indigenous medicine people have known for centuries.

Isn't Ayahuasca Illegal? The "Ayahuasca Brew" that is made from two seperate plants is illegal in the United States because it contains the Chacruna leaf which contains DMT, which is a psychedelic substance. Ayahuasca Vine or Banisteriopsis caapi is NOT a pyschedelic plant and therefore is completely legal in the United States and most other countries. Regenerate Your NatureTM Ayahuasca Microdose Tincture contains ONLY the Banisteriopsis caapi vine. This tincture is perfectly legal to purchase and use in the U.S. and most countries.

Do I need microdose coaching? This is personal preference. If you want to get in shape you can do the research, create a work out plan and then go to the gym all on your own. Or if you prefer you can hire a trainer who has experience, knowledge and wise insights that can help guide you along the way. Sometimes in the process of working with Ayahuasca the plant can reveal to stresses, anxieties or traumas that you may have suppressed. It can help to have an experienced to help you navigate through how to integrate as part of your healing process. Vanessa and I are experienced Psychedelic Integration Guides and can help you get the most out of an Ayahuasca microdosing protocol. To decide we recommend grounding into your intuition. Feel free to check out our Microdosing Coaching Program

What about setting an intention? I’m not sure how to do that.Setting an intention is as simple as creating a goal for your microdosing journey. Want to unlock your creative flow? Want to feel more at peace? We recommend creating a daily ritual. This could be as simple or extravagant as you would like. You can put on music, burn some incense and meditate or you can literally just tell the medicine that is what your intention is. Hold the bottle in your hand, close your eyes and speak your intention out loud when you take you microdose each day.

I've tried Ayahuasca, It doesn't work for me.The medicine is working whether you feel it or not. The harmala alkaloids are creating neurogenesis in your brain; so even if you don’t feel the effects you can trust that the medicine is working. (That is the whole point of microdosing, getting the benefit without feeling any physical effects) One thing that can help is intention. If you believe the medicine isn’t working, then you’re not going to feel it working. It helps to open yourself up to being curious about what the medicine is doing for you. You can even ask the medicine to communicate with you, and if you listen very closely with your heart you will hear it speak to you in the wind, or the something someone says to you, small synchronicities or a million other ways.

Microdosing gives me anxiety.Microdosing plant medicines can sometimes REVEAL anxieties that we have buried deep in our subconscious. Sometimes we carry defense mechanisms and masks for so many years we forget they are there. Ayahuasca helps bring them to the surface so we can heal those parts of ourselves that feel fear.

How can i get the most out of my microdosing experience? We highly recommend: Dieta: Reducing your intake of spicy, greasy and processed foods. Reduce external stimulation: like television and social media doom scrolling. Meditation: Spend time in quiet meditation, this gives you the opportunity to hear the messages from the medicine. Journaling: Journaling your thoughts, feelings, synchronicities and other signs can help you recognize patterns that will help you make positive changes in your life. We also offer a Microdosing Coaching Program where we give you tools to help you integrate your experiences while microdosing.

Will i have big epiphanies or ego death with microdosing?Microdosing tends to be a more subtle experience than a full, "heroes" or ceremonial dose. You will absolutely experience epiphanies but usually they come as small shifts in perspective or consciousness. We’d like to think of microdosing as the feminine experience as opposed to the very masculine experience of the heroes journey of a ceremonial dose. We teach you more about this process in our Microdosing Coaching Program.
-
Micro dosing makes me physically uncomfortable or sleepy. In our experience when you experience uncomfortable symptoms, it’s best to reflect on what those symptoms are. For instance, if you feel Ayahuasca makes you sleepy; the medicine might be telling you that you need to slow down and rest. Maybe you have been working too hard? Pay attention to the subtle feelings that come up and journal them out to help you recognize patterns.
-
How long should I microdose? To start we generally recommend a short program of six weeks. For those experiencing severe anxiety or depression we recommend a 14-18 week program along with microdosing coaching. There are no strict rules for microdosing, what’s important is that you stay conscious when working with this plant. Ayahuasca is not addictive, however when people derive a benefit from working with it they can develop an emotional dependence. Working with Ayahuasca is not the same as being on a pharmaceutical drug where you might be on an antidepressant for the rest of your life. The idea of working with Ayahuasca is to come in to balance within your own mind, body and spirit so you no longer need it.
